Aurore Monteil

"Aurore Monteil is a French state-certified architect, artist, and artisan whose interdisciplinary practice explores the relationships between body, material, space, and perception. Trained in architecture, she developed an approach that bridges spatial design, visual arts, material experimentation, and phenomenological research. Her work investigates how environments influence emotional, sensory, and energetic experiences through texture, color, vibration, and movement.

In 2022, she specialized in traditional Portuguese azulejo painting and ceramics in Lisbon, where she deepened her research into the transformative properties of matter. Working with clay, oxides, glazes, and mineral compositions led her to consider ceramics as living surfaces capable of altering the perception and atmosphere of architectural spaces. Her installations and artworks often merge handcrafted ceramic processes with contemporary spatial interventions, performance, and immersive environments.

Alongside her visual practice, movement and embodied research occupy a central place in her work. Having trained in classical and contemporary dance from an early age, she integrates intuitive movement, meditation, and studies of consciousness into her creative methodology. Influenced by Mahāyāna Buddhism, phenomenology, and research surrounding vibrational physics and perception, Monteil approaches artistic creation as a dialogue between science, spirituality, and material experience.

She is the founder of 4A STUDIO, an experimental laboratory where architecture, craftsmanship, and contemporary art intersect through site-specific installations and sensory exploration. Her work has been exhibited in France and internationally, and she received the regional prize from Ateliers d’Art de France in the Heritage category."
